Attic Storage, New Southgate

In collaboration with our main contracting arm Deep Living London, Deep GRC London Ltd successfully completed a comprehensive range of groundworks for the new Attic Self Storage facility located in New Southgate, London.

Scope of Works

The groundworks contract, valued at approximately £1.65 million , encompassed several key elements, each crucial for the successful completion of the facility:

Groundworks:

The initial phase of work included large-scale excavation, clearing the site of unsuitable materials, and preparing the ground for construction. The area was carefully graded to the required levels, and a structured sub-base was laid to support both the building’s foundation and external hardstanding areas.

Drainage:

A robust drainage system was implemented to effectively manage rainwater and prevent water accumulation. This involved installing underground drainage pipes, access chambers, and linking the system to the existing sewer network. The design ensures reliable water runoff management, protecting the site from potential flooding.

External Works:

The external phase of the project included the development of access routes, parking facilities, and pedestrian pathways around the structure. These enhancements were designed to provide a functional, safe, and visually appealing environment for both employees and visitors. These were completed on a 7 week return programme. 

Power-Floated Ground Floor Slab:

1. A crucial aspect of the project was the installation of a high-performance power-floated concrete slab for the ground floor. This process involved mechanically refining the concrete surface to achieve a smooth, level, and hard-wearing finish. The method enhances the durability of the flooring, ensuring it meets operational requirements once the facility is in use.

Project Timeline and Challenges

Phase 1 of the project was delivered within a strict 19-week programme, with each phase carefully planned to ensure that all works were completed on schedule. 

This project highlights Deep GRC’s expertise in handling intricate groundworks and infrastructure demands, ensuring precision, efficiency, and timely delivery. Our team’s ability to manage logistical challenges, comply with regulatory requirements, and seamlessly coordinate various trades has been instrumental in the successful completion of the Attic Self Storage facility in Enfield, setting the stage for the next phase of development.
