In collaboration with Barratt West London, Deep Group London undertook a comprehensive package project for brickwork, scaffolding, balcony and steelwork solutions. The project involved the supply and installation of 400 bolt-on balconies, as well as steelwork solutions for staircases and block barriers. The project, spanning seven residential blocks, commenced in May 2022 and was completed in December 2023.

Project Scope

Design:

The Balconies were designed by Deep Steelworks in house design department, incorporating the Steel Carcass, Aluminium Decking, Aluminium Balustrades and Aluminium Soffit panels. All elements were designed to withstand a 60-year life span and to a Class A2 fire rating, ensuring compliance to British Standards and NHBC Conditions. The use of precision designed Aluminium extrusions ensured all finishes were seamless and without visible welds. All Aluminium was polyester powder coated and all steel carcasses were hot dipped galvanised to an average of 85 microns.

Manufacture:

All balconies were manufactured by our fully trained in-house production team, including Fabrication of the Balcony Carcasses, assembly of the aluminium balustrades and assembly of the full Balcony units, including balustrades, decking and soffits, resulting in all Balconies delivered to site fully assembled, ready to be bolted directly to the building using the site Tower Crane. This method of production reduces the amount of site work required, allowing the majority of the works to be undertaken in a fully controlled factory environment, minimising Health and Safety risks on site.

Installation:

Each installation was carefully planned, with strict adherence to the Risk Assessment and Method Statement. All site teams comprise of a SSSTS qualified Site Supervisor, fully qualified slingers, and skilled workers to ensure the full installation process is carried out safely and successfully.

We provided and installed steel staircases, designed to meet both safety standards and architectural aesthetics. These staircases were crafted to facilitate safe and easy access across different levels of the buildings.

Our scope also included the supply and installation of steel block barriers, enhancing the safety and security of the site. These barriers were custom-designed to integrate seamlessly with the building structure, providing both functional and protective benefits.

All Balconies were fully QA checked, ensuring torquing of bolts, correct handrail heights and correct decking installation prior to handing over to the clients.
